Dr Chandan Saha

Dr Chandan Saha, MBBS (Cal), MD (Cal), DNB (New Delhi), MRCP (UK), FRCPath (Haematology)

I am a Consultant Haematologist with specialisation in blood and bone marrow cancers in NHS. I graduated from University of Calcutta, India. I developed my interest in haematology while working in King’s College Hospital, Londond. Subsequently I did my specialist training in haematology in Cambridge and Norwich. I have thereafter gained specialist experience in myeloproliferative neoplasms, systemic mastocytosis and clinical trials in Guy’s and St Thomas Hospitals, London. I look after patients with acute leukaemias, myelodysplastic syndrome, myeloproliferative neoplasms, systemic mastocytosis, patients receiving haematopoietic stem cell transplant.

Dr Kaninika Basu, MBBS (Cal), MD (UK), PGCert in Med Ed (UK)

I am a clinical academic allergist with specialisation in medical education, currently working in the NHS, UK. Following graduation and completion of foundation training in Calcutta, India, I came to the UK, with the aspiration of becoming an academic clinician who wants to change the clinical education for better. I have extensive experience in managing allergic conditions such as eczema, asthma, allergic rhinitis etc in children and young adults. I also have significant clinical experience in medicine for elderly including palliative care. My research has led to publication of a number of high-impact papers in world’s highest ranking journals in the field, and improved understanding of significant genetic factors to influence patient experience and clinical outcomes in allergic diseases such as asthma, eczema. I have received the British Thoracic Society Young Investigator Award among many other accolades for my research. Alongside clinical practice and academic research, I lead clinical simulation for healthcare professionals as a university lecturer. I am in a unique position of training life-saving clinical skills to doctors, pharmacists and community health care workers to create a highly skilled workforce for saving patients’ lives.
