Clinical Skills & Human Factors

Healthy triad of clinician-patient-caregiver is key to successful management of a health condition. Even when a patient suffers from a terminal illness, they expect open, honest, and respectful professional interaction with empathy from the clinicians and vice versa. Clinical training helps us, health care professionals, to stay within our boundaries of professionalism, practise evidence-based medicine, yet often we see a break down in the relationship between the patient and the health care professional. This can only be overcome by spreading the knowledge and awareness among future generations of doctors and caregivers, and nurture a thriving medical fraternity.

Most clinical teams assume that adequate clinical training, experience and motivation are sufficient to ensure successful performance. While these are indeed necessary prerequisites, they are not sufficient, especially in an increasingly complex healthcare set-up. There are many factors that can influence human performance, either in a given moment, from day to day or over long periods of time.

We at The Talking Doctor Ltd, believe in this ethos and are here to establish this concept to improve patient experience. We are on a mission to enhance relation between patients and health care professionals by improving non-clinical professional skills (otherwise known as ‘soft skills’) among the clinician, build the legion of global clinicians and develop a network where the management of each patient is a journey which is enjoyable and dignified irrespective of the outcome.

All our programmes are bespoke and tailored to the learners, and therefore unique.

Developing the Talking Doctor

Online and face-to-face bespoke training on learning and practising interpersonal skills associated with current clinical practice. This is a conglomeration of a range of ‘soft skills’ required for clinicians, such as communications skills, teamworking, leadership, resource management, creativity and innovation, prioritisation, adaptability and emotional intelligence.
